A few weeks ago, I talked about zooming out to find a broader perspective.
But we can also zoom in. When the complex, wicked challenges around us feel too big and completely out of our control, we can always zoom in to focus on what is in our control.
When the whole system feels too impenetrable, we can zoom in our communities. And if not our communities, then our families. And if not our families, then ourselves. If we can’t will ourselves to completely turn over a new leaf, we can always focus on just today or just one small aspect of ourselves. And if today feels too big, we can focus on just this very moment.
When driving change, zoom out to find a stabilizing perspective that keeps you from despair. Zoom in to find the thing that you can change.
