You can skip the Hero’s Journey

Inner purpose is how our purpose work bring us alive. Outer purpose is how our purpose work connects us to the world around us.
To cultivate and sustain a truly thriving life, we must pursue more than purpose. We must also pursue passion and peace.
To be a purpose-driven leader is not to forsake profit. It’s to use profit to serve the greater good. It’s to continuously fill your own cup and to share generously from it.
Through purpose, you not only cultivate lasting meaning and fulfillment but a deep sense of peace that can sustain you through the darkest, most turbulent times.
I wish I had something profound, helpful, or inspiring to say. But for now, the only way to relate to all this that makes any kind of sense to me is to step up even further into myself; this work I’ve set out on supporting aspiring change leaders; and building community, connection, and support networks with folks like you.
If I am going to encourage and support my clients in pursuing their passions, taking risks, and embracing the cringe, then maybe I should seek out opportunities to do so myself.
If I can’t fully feel the sadness – and whatever other feelings come along with this change – then I can’t fully acknowledge and honor this beautiful, momentous chapter of my life. I can’t offer it the proper goodbye that it so deserves.
Every single one of us can absolutely cultivate all the energy we could ever need to sustain our lives and careers through joy-and-love-based energies. And when we do so, we cultivate a much greater sense of joy, grace, and ease in the process.
Rather than thinking of it as weakness, failing, or giving up, where might I recast my decision to let something go as creating an opportunity for new leaders, new ideas, and fresh energy?
