April 29, 2022 C.E.The European Union is now planning its largest ban of toxic substances ever to address the issue of dangerous chemicals in everyday products, according to The Optimist Daily.
Using existing European laws as precedent, the E.U. has released a plan that seeks to eliminate about 12,000 toxic substances. The ban, which includes flame retardants, bisphenols, PVC plastics, toxic chemicals in single-use napkins, and PFAS, makes it harder for manufacturers to bypass regulations by using substitutes for the banned chemicals.
Ultimately, the European Union’s ban will help prevent manufacturers from using loopholes to bypass existing chemical bans and positively impact the overall health of consumers and the environment.
