According to Good News Network, Facebook, Google, Stripe, and Shopify have put together a $1.2 billion fund to pull carbon out of our atmosphere. This fund, called Frontier, will be the world’s largest coalition of carbon removal purchasers.

This fund will invest in the development of permanent long-term solutions aiming to remove carbon from our atmosphere. Some of these technologies use big fans to separate carbon from oxygen and then bury it deep underground while using the ethanol produced to make vodka. Other methods remove carbon by trapping it in different building materials.

Through this fund, these tech companies are demonstrating that they can be a powerful force accelerating technologies that will fight climate change.
