The donated AstraZeneca vaccines left Mumbai for the Danish capital of Copenhagen, where they will be safely stored and distributed to UN peacekeepers serving in various missions.
“This is a historic step forward towards transforming how we view and value nature. We will no longer be heedlessly allowing environmental destruction and degradation to be considered economic progress” said UN Secretary-General António Guterres.
The West African nations each received more than half a million doses. The deliveries signify the launch of the largest, most rapid and complex global vaccine rollout in history, said WHO.
