Emergent Strategy

About Emergent Strategy

Emergent Strategy is a book written by adrienne maree brown that explores how to deal with the constantly changing state of the world. Rather than despair, Emergent Strategy invites us to feel, map, assess, and learn from the swirling patterns around us in order to better understand and influence them as they happen.

Emergent Strategy is a non-linear exploration of its own titular concept, something Brown defines as “how we intentionally change in ways that grow our capacity to embody the just and liberated worlds we long for.” It’s a book for those who are either willing or in need of thinking expansively about what our future could look like.

adrienne maree brown is a writer, activist, and facilitator who supports the Black Lives Matter and prison abolition movements. Brown has published extensively on the subjects of sex, healing, self-care, trauma, and science-fiction. In addition to Emergent Strategy, Brown’s anthology Pleasure Activism: The Politics of Feeling Good was released in 2019.
