About Resource Generation

Since its foundation in 1998, Resource Generation (RG) has worked to balance the scales and help more equitably distribute wealth, land, and power. RG organizes young people (18-35) with wealth and/or class privilege and encourages them to donate money to grassroots organizations that the group believes will make a meaningful change for wealth equality.

RG members not only donate money, but also join protests, speak at city council meetings, and found donor networks. While all of this is in an effort to champion economic and racial justice, RG members are careful not to dictate how donated funds should be spent, something they refer to us making “right relationships.” Instead of using their wealth and power to decide how money should be spent, their goal is to empower community leaders, who have a better understanding of what issues should be addressed.

As of 2021, RG had 17 chapter open across the country, with over 1,000 members. The family fortunes of all RG members is approximately $22 billion.
