Faith

For most of my life, I’ve dismissed, even ridiculed, the idea of faith. I judged faith was about blanketing yourself in certainty in an uncertain world. It was telling yourself a lie so you can sleep at night.

But I find that lately I am much more open to, even reliant on, faith – or at least my version of it.

This is not a faith that everything will certainly be alright. This is not faith that there’s some divine plan or a God that will save us.

This is the faith that the change I want to see is bigger and more mysterious than I can comprehend. This is the faith that carries me forward amid deep, sometimes overwhelming, uncertainty. It’s a reminder that what appears to me frightening or discouraging might actually be exactly what we need.
