About Rocky Mountain Institute
Rocky Mountain Institute (or RMI for short) is an independent, non-partisan, nonprofit organization of experts across disciplines working to accelerate the clean energy transition and improve lives. RMI’s mission is to transform the global energy system to secure a clean, prosperous, zero-carbon future for all. RMI decarbonizes energy systems through a rapid, market-based change in the world’s most critical geographies to align with a 1.5°C future and address the climate crisis. RMI works with businesses, policymakers, communities, and other organizations to identify and scale energy system interventions that will cut greenhouse gas emissions by at least 50% by 2030.
RMI has utilized our unique techno-economic expertise and whole-systems thinking to publish groundbreaking research and analysis. RMI’s approach is to THINK bigger, DO boldly, and SCALE globally. The nonprofit applies rigorous research and analysis to unlock market-based solutions that can be replicated and implemented now.
RMI is tackling the climate crisis by focusing on its main contributor: energy production and use, which represents 70% of global greenhouse gas emissions.
